How it all started

Otherwise known as "my journey to pursue my dreams of becoming the real life version of J.Lo in The Wedding Planner." Honestly though, I really have loved weddings for as long as I can remember. My friend and I used to obsess over that movie and talk about our dreams of going into the wedding business ourselves. That's not to say I've followed a straight and narrow path towards this career (God knows my interests have been and continue to be ever-changing), but there are a few experiences that have led me to this adventure.

One of the first, most influential opportunities I had was my job as a bridal consultant at a local bridal store. I LOVED that job and literally getting to play dress up with brides and their bridal parties every day. The girls I worked with made that job even more amazing. I worked there throughout college, and along the way I had several other internships and work-study positions that cultivated my love of events in general. During my junior year I was able to transfer my work-study position into the Office of Student Activities. Again, LOVED that job. Seriously, it was so fun planning events and hosting performers, such as singers, comedians, speakers... and working with other students for battle of the bands and their RSO events. I also had the opportunity to do an internship in the Wellness Department and helped plan their Sustainable Living and Wellness Expo. That was such a great learning experience and I enjoyed the fact that every day was different in pulling together all the details of the event. I feel blessed to have had such great experiences and wonderful mentors in those four years.

Fast forward to today (more specifics on my journey and many other work experiences in an upcoming post - or two!). I'm back at my alma mater, working in the Alumni Relations department as an Event Coordinator. I could not be more excited (the title alone makes me go all emoji with the heart eyes)! But I'm also taking another giant, scary leap in the direction of my dreams. I love event planning, and would be happy working in so many different capacities in that industry, but right now on this entrepreneurial journey, my focus is on weddings. I want to take my passion for weddings and share it with brides and grooms. I want to offer my assistance based on knowledge and experience, and help them plan the best, happiest day! If you're getting married soon - or know someone who could use some help - keep reading!

What you can expect from me

First and foremost, I promise to share my passion for weddings and event planning. I'm determined that whatever I lack in experience I make up for in passion (I mean I get wedding magazines delivered and I'm not even engaged...) I truly love the fundamental truths of wedding planning: making people happy and being a part of making their vision come together. Let's be real, weddings are celebratory and happy occasions, so it's a fun thing to be a part of!

I promise to put a lot of thought and effort into making sure things are perfect (I may or may not have a perfectionist side). I'm completely obsessed with details, so you don't have to worry about anything being out of place.

I promise to respect your interests and concerns. I will share my knowledge and experience with you, but I also recognize that this is your day, and more importantly, a reflection of you as a couple. I will not overshare opinions that are not requested.

I promise to make your wedding planning experience stress-free and fun. You have a whole amazing life to plan, so let me take care of all the little details for this one big day!
